Understanding Different Fabric Types and Their Care
Different fabrics require different care methods. Here's your guide to understanding and caring for common fabric types:
Cotton
Cotton is durable and can usually be machine washed. Use warm or hot water for whites and cold for colors. Cotton can shrink, so check care labels.
Silk
Silk is delicate and usually requires dry cleaning. If hand washing, use cold water and a gentle detergent. Never wring silk garments.
Wool
Wool requires gentle care. Hand wash in cold water or dry clean. Never use hot water as it causes shrinkage.
Polyester
Polyester is easy care and machine washable. Use warm water and tumble dry on low heat.
Linen
Linen can be machine washed but wrinkles easily. Iron while slightly damp for best results.
